Stoorie is a product of Submiti Ltd (company number 17205395), a company registered in England and Wales and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO registration ZC162501). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any question, email us at admin@stoorie.com.

The short version

We never train AI on your words, and we never turn painful entries into career language. You can delete everything at any time, and we do not sell your data or show ads.

What we collect

Your account email, used to sign you in. The moments you write or speak. The shaped versions Stoorie creates from them (a story, or a note kept in your own words). Which experience areas a story relates to. Files, photos, links and emails you choose to bring in, and the passages Stoorie finds in them. And basic technical logs about engine speed and errors, which contain no story content. Voice recordings stay on your phone only, for 7 days after capture, and are then removed automatically. Talking with Stoorie is not stored unless you choose to keep a conversation; a kept conversation is saved as a note, with what you said and what Stoorie said marked separately.

How your private words are protected

Spoken notes are transcribed by a trusted service, and your text is then shaped by our AI engine; neither trains its models on your content, and no person at Stoorie reads what you write. Your own words are always kept and shown back to you, cleaned and readable, so you can see what you said. When you talk with Stoorie, it reads your own entries to answer you, and only yours. We do not train on your words and we never sell or share them. They are yours.

Who processes your data

We use Supabase to host data and manage sign-in, Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI model) to shape your words into usable language, to read what you bring in and to answer you when you talk with Stoorie, AssemblyAI to transcribe what you say, and Resend to send email and to receive email you send to Stoorie. When Stoorie answers you out loud, OpenAI reads the answer aloud: it receives the text of that answer, which can include things from your entries. You can switch to your phone’s own voice in Settings, and then nothing is sent for speaking. Each of these processes your words only to provide that feature, and none trains its models on your content. We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.

If you subscribe to Stoorie Plus, Apple or Google take the payment and we never see your card details. RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions for us, receives your account ID and the details of your subscription (which plan, when it started, when it renews or ends) from the store, so Stoorie knows you have Plus. It receives none of your words.

Personal and difficult entries

When an entry is personal or difficult and does not support a career claim, Stoorie keeps it as a note in your own words. It is never turned into career language or treated as career evidence on its own. Stoorie does not scan your words to trigger distress or crisis interventions.

Why we are allowed to process it

We process your data to provide the service you have asked for, which is our agreement with you, and, where relevant, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep your stories and words until you delete them. Voice recordings stay on your phone for 7 days after capture, then are removed automatically. Items you delete wait in Trash for 30 days, then are removed for good. The "Delete all data" option in Me permanently removes your entries from our database and clears the copies held on your phone. Deleting cannot be undone.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, export or erase your data, and you can object to or restrict how we process it. You can delete everything yourself in Settings, or contact us at admin@stoorie.com. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

Security

Access to your data is limited to your own account, and data is encrypted in transit. No system is ever perfectly secure, but we take protecting your words seriously. We do not read them, we do not train on them, and we do not share them.

Children

Stoorie is intended for adults building a record of their lived experience. It is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date below, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
